TEMPORARY WORKS

SUPPORTING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS WITH SAFETY CRITICAL, REACTIVE TEMPORARY WORKS SOLUTIONS

TEMPORARY WORKS

We routinely support reactive, missing scope, and enabling works, working closely with Principal Contractors, Designers, and Asset Owners to develop robust and auditable temporary works solutions. Our services include the preparation of NR/L2/CIV/003/Form C submissions and the associated Certificates of Design and Check, providing assurance that all temporary works are  implemented in accordance with applicable standards and approvals processes.

DESIGN SUBMISSION

Our temporary works design process begins with a clear understanding of existing site conditions and operational restrictions. Each design submission includes:

  • A detailed description of existing site conditions and constraints

  • A clear definition of the proposed temporary works and scope of design

  • Identification of all affected assets, interfaces, and third-party constraints

  • Confirmation of the proposed construction methodology and sequencing

  • Integration of temporary works with the project’s Diversity Impact Assessment (DIA) where required

  • A staged approach to design, independent design check, and submission approvals.

This structured methodology ensures designs are proportionate, buildable, and aligned with programme and possession constraints.

DESIGN COMPLIANCE

All temporary works designs are produced and independently checked in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and client-specific requirements. Typical compliance includes:

  • NR/L2/CIV/003 suite of forms and guidance

  • BS 5975:2024 (Parts 1 and 2) – Temporary Works Procedures

  • BS EN 1997 (Eurocode 7) – Geotechnical Design

  • Applicable Railway Group Standards, Railway Industry Standards, and Department for Transport guidance

Where departures or variations are required, these are clearly identified, technically justified, and formally agreed through the appropriate assurance and approval routes.
